LINKS: Meeting invitation Meeting details You are invited to attend the 2013 Meeting of the NCCC-167 Regional Coordinating Committee on Corn Breeding Research to be held at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL immediately preceding the 55th Annual Maize Genetics Conference. Members of the Maize Genetics Executive Committee and Maize Genetics Conference Steering Committee will participate in this meeting, as will representatives from the Commercial Breeding Sector and Corn Growers. Ed Buckler, Chair of the Maize Genetics Executive Committee, will participate as a goal of this meeting is to make the public sector corn breeders meeting more integrated with the maize genetics conference, and at the same time work towards more translational research output that will benefit corn growers. A major goal of this meeting is to discuss and plan how to more effectively integrate public maize breeding and maize genetics research to increase translational research outputs that benefit corn growers. Some formal discussions will be organized. The meeting will begin at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, March 13 and adjourn at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 14. Registration: Registration fees will be $175 per scientist and $100 per student. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and session breaks on both days. Early registration deadline is February 4. Registration after February 4 (including onsite) will be $200 per scientist and $125 per student. Click here to register online. Volunteered presentations: Attendees are encouraged to share current research with volunteered paper presentations in either poster or oral format. If the number of volunteered oral presentations exceeds available time, the meeting chair will ask some oral presenters to present in poster format Oral papers may be a formal research presentation or may be in a chalk talk format. Oral presentations should be a maximum of 15 minutes in length with 5 minutes for questions. To volunteer a paper, please submit an abstract to Tobert Rocheford (torbert@purdue.edu) by February 4 according to format guidelines below. The best student oral presentation will be awarded the Larry Darrah Student Presentation Award which includes a cash award of $250. ABSTRACT FORMATTING: Abstracts should contain title, authors, author institution affiliations, and text. All text should be 12-point New Times Roman and left justified. Please include all authors in the form last name, first name followed by a numerical footnote to indicate institutional affiliation. Include asterisk following presenting authors name. List institution with footnotes following authors. Abstracts will be posted on the website following the February 4 deadline. Please adhere to formatting guidelines to assist with compilation of abstracts. See 2012 abstracts for example format. |
